Rachel Davis

Rachel Heston Davis, Associate Editor for Harpstring , has been writing ever since she figured out how to work the clattering keys of her parents’ typewriter back in the 80s. She grew up on a steady diet of great books, from the Christian publishing industry as well as Mainstream. Rachel graduated from Greenville College with a bachelor’s degree in English. Her education included courses in world lit, American lit, writing for adolescents, and fantasy. She decided to pursue writing as a career, and soon found herself immersed in the publishing world as well.

Rachel loves good stories. If it has a fantastic plot, characters who feel like real people, and an ending that makes her think, she will read it over and over. Areas of special interest include young adult stories, speculative fiction, and her ultimate soft spot—cartoons and graphic novels.

Rachel lives in southern Illinois with her amazing husband Jaron (programmer by day, musician by night) and their three rascally pet rats. She somehow finds time to be a part-time newspaper reporter. Her life revolves around Christ, her loved ones, and her work.

Rowena Kuo

Rowena G. Kuo, Executive Editor for Harpstring Magazine and Books. With a heart for unpublished writers, Rowena considers each and every manuscript deposited into her acquisitions box a potential means of ministry. Regardless of the stage within which a particular piece presents itself, the author’s voice resounds, much like the resonance heard from a single harp string. Rowena’s goal is to listen for that voice, foster to fine tune it, and then reverberate it to a world desperate to hear it. With over 15 years of ministering to children, youth groups, young adults, and now women and family groups, Rowena advocates for writers to build God-centered support systems consisting of people, perseverance, practice, and most of all, prayer.

When not editing, Rowena is a part-time RN working with developmentally different adults and is a full-time wife and mom.

Daneen Padilla, Executive Editor for Untapped. She lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The incline and Barr Trail are incredible workouts. Love it! Daneen gave her life to God at age 7. Over the years she‘s developed a greater understanding of what that means and the kind of relationship He wants to have. Much simpler, deeper, and richer than she used to think. Daneen began writing at about age nine; but didn‘t start writing for publication until about six years ago. She worked in Early Childhood Education for 22 years, and youth ministry 15 years. Daneen began writing for publication to address the needs she saw in children and youth. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Communications.

Patti Shene

Patti Shene recently retired from a career as a registered nurse and now hopes to pursue her passion for writing with more serious intent. Her past employment at Colorado Boys Ranch YouthConnect has fueled her desire to help young people express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through the written word.
